My family has a long tradition of making wedding cakes for the girls. It started with my mom, aunts and cousins for my grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary. We have made several cakes since then. On January 25th Laretta, my sister, my girls and Brock came to the house and we made Brock and Tiffany's wedding cake. (Karlee wasn't feeling well in the morning so she sluffed and helped us with cake.) Tiffany is very artistic and she has been gathering ideas since they got engaged. We tried a few brand new things on this cake. Tiffany used royal icing and "stuccoed" the top and bottom layers. We used fondant on the middle layer. She quilted it and we used gray pearled sixlets in the x's it left. Making the wedding cake is always a stressful day but it is so much fun to be with my sister and my girls ( and a lot of caffeine). Don't ask Brock though he thinks we're all nuts.

My girls are not engineers but this unstable structure was called Gilligan. Doesn't it look like something he would build. It allowed the cake top to dry though.
Brock was the second victim of my new tradition. Both he and Blake had to roll out the fondant for the cake. Hey, we needed the muscle! This is stiff stuff.
After the fondant is rolled, it has to be rolled onto something so it can be laid out evenly over the layer. By the way, the middle layer was chocolate cake. It was Brock's choice, also a tradition with the last few grooms. All the other layers were foam.
I'm always amazed at how beautiful the cakes turn out. This cake was no exception.
Kenlee was kind of on her own while we did cake. She built this hut on the stair landing. She is such a creative girl. What a rich day!!
